Everything You Need To Know About Installing Pop Up Outlets
I know that normally in these posts I give you a heads up on some new and wonderful toys that will help make your work easier, faster and more profitable. Along the way I try to dispense a little wisdom and share a few giggles. From the response that I have been seeing you seem to be enjoying these post and I would just like to take a minute to say, Thank You!
You are the reason that we are here. Without your loyalty we would not be the company that we have become and I wouldn’t have the opportunity to write these articles that I truly have come to love writing.
This week, what I have to share isn’t exactly a tool, not in the traditional way anyway. It is more of an idea and a way to help you get ahead in your business.
Too often we, as electricians, get so wrapped up in the technical side of our work that we lose sight of the fact that we are also business people and as business people we have customers to serve.
True, we serve our customers by doing quality work at competitive prices but another way to serve them is to supply those options that they didn’t even know they had. Some times getting or losing a contract can turn on small details that have nothing to do with price or workmanship.
Show Something New
A case in point is Pop-up Boxes. Now, there is nothing new about flush mounted countertop and floor outlets. They have been around for years and about as common as the flu in winter but when you are talking details of a job with prospective clients why not show them something a little different that they might not have seen before. Believe me, it will score you some serious points and just might swing the contract to you even if your bid is a little higher. This is especially true if you are working in a little more upscale market like luxury homes or executive offices.
Pop-up Difference
Pop-up Boxes are a cool alternative you can offer to traditional floor or countertop outlets. When closed they are water and scrub proof so perfect for kitchen applications and come in a wide variety of plug configurations including a 15 amp single power/USB port configuration.
A wide selection of finishes is available to match any decor and one the coolest features in my opinion is that you can get them with a nightlight feature making them easy to find In the dark and all except the USB are GFI receptacles.
This just one example of something a little different that you can offer to clients that will help set you apart from the competition.
As competitive as our business has become you always need to be on the look out for anything that will give you that little edge, anything that will make you stand out from the crowed. You could paint all your vans hot pink but I would rather my company be known as the innovative electricians than the pussy pink patrol. Still if you swing that way go for it. Just Joking!
