<p>  I live in an area that electric power goes out during thunderstorms.  I bought and use a portable generator to keep the essential house items running but always had concerns of overloading the generator.  I bought this product and have used it several times with no difficulty and I am now can be assured that the generator is well within its capability for keeping me comfortable in my home.</p>

<p>  Its very had to see what the amperage draw of a saw or other item is.  Just inset this unit between the outlet and cord and clamp on a &#8220;clamp-on&#8221; multimeter ( not included) to see the amp draw.  This unit is great because it has two loops for low and high amperage measuring.</p>

<p>  Well, it’s super tough to get a heirloom quality tool these days, so don’t expect that.  But this essential tool works well enough. 4 stars for accuracy. Both the 1X and 10X slots should read the same (decimal point should just be moved over 1 place), but they are 3/10ths of an amp off from each other at 12 amps.  That’s not too bad, but it’s not what it should be.</p>

<p>  This thing works great for me.  I can easily get my clamp meter around both the 1X and 10X areas no problem.  As an added bonus it will measure 220V lines and says it can go to 300V.  It&#8217;s the only one I&#8217;ve been able to find that does 220.</p>

<div><strong>Most clamp meters will not fit the 1X hole</strong></div>

<p>  Unless you own a tiny clamp meter, you won&#8217;t be able to clamp onto the 1X hole as it is WAY too small. Of the 5 clamping meters I own, not one of them could fit through the 1X hole. Although I do not mind having to divide by 10 to get the valid amps, I can get a 10X splitter a lot cheaper than the $20 for a feature I can not even use. Poorly designed.</p>

<p>  Used once to check amperage of a sump pump during operation with my Clamp multimeter. Measurement was plausible, most likely correct. Used GFCI tester per instructions provided. Worked well. A convenient way to perform this type of testing if length of the device lets it fit where you need it to be.</p>

<p>  I used this to measure the rush current on one my outlets using the clamp meter. This tool allows me to hang the clamp on one of the leads to get measurement. I was able to get reading without opening up the wall outlet. It&#8217;s really easy to use and the GFCI tester is also handy for testing GFCI outlet function.</p>

I don&#8217;t understand a other reviewer claiming problem.Handy having both tools in one. Solid construction. Don&#8217;t feel like opening it up to check quality of connections but the plug seems good. Works.</p>

<p>  I like that a GFCI/circuit tester and line splitter are combined in this one tool, even if it is a bit longer over all. I had just bought a new clamp meter to test the amps being drawn by a pump in our cottage&#8217;s septic system. This tool worked flawlessly. I plugged it into the receptacle beside the timer and septic tank, and got my reading without having to split the circuit somewhere between the main panel and the plug-in point. A line splitter is really a must-have tool if you use a clamp-on meter. This one is well made and conveniently includes the GFCI/circuit tester feature.</p>

<p>  I assume it is accurate on the 1 times but the 10 times is more like 11 or 12 times.  Which seems odd. I am pretty sure all they needed to do was loop (or coil) the wire 10 times so that the meter would read 10x the electrons flowing by.</p>
